Jim Sullivan
James Sullivan brings a virtuosic technique to his exploration of the creative possibilities of the entire clarinet family. In addition to the soprano clarinets, he has cultivated a rare command of the low clarinets: the bass, contralto and contrabass. He has performed with a range of orchestras, including the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Seattle Symphony, and plays in diverse chamber music settings from classical to avant-garde. He has been featured on the Jacaranda and Zebulon Projects series and performs with improvisation ensembles Brad Dutz Quartet and Freshly Squeezed. Sullivan studied at Interlochen Arts Academy, Cleveland Institute of Music, Florida State University (B.M.), and CalArts (M.F.A.).
