Profile For Kofi Baker
Kofi Baker
Kofi Baker made his first appearance with his father Ginger Baker on a 1975 live TV show called the Old Gray Whistle Test and he's been playing before the public ever since.
The early 80's found Kofi and his father playing drum duets throughout Europe. Later Kofi toured with John Ethridge (Soft Machine), giged in London with Steve Waller (Manfred Mann) and with Randy California (Spirit). He joined Steve Marriot's next Band after Humble Pie for European tours .
Highlights of the 1990's for Kofi were a Budapest tour with Jack Bruce, signing to Scotty Brothers Records and recording the album Lost City in '92, followed by the album "Abstract Logic" with Jonas Hellborg and Shawn Lane in 1994. This was followed by a variety of tours including more drum duets with Ginger.
Now living in L.A., Kofi formed Tapestry with Ric Fierabracci and Brett Garsed. Kofi then played in OHM, a jazz fusion outfit with Chris Poland (of Megadeth) on guitar and Robert Pagliari on bass.
Look for Kofi's new project: A Cream and Blind Faith tribute band! Should we call it Kofi and Cream? Hmmm... And his appearance in the April issue of Modern Drummer Magazine.
