Artists: Chris Garcia drums Harry Scorzo Violin Jennifer Walton Violin Alan Mautner Cello Ken Rosser Guitar Eddie Resto Bass Didi Scorzo Vocals Mark Weber poetry
Show Info: We’ll be playing a large piece I wrote with the poet Mark Weber called “Maurice Ravel and the Pterodactyls of Paradise”. I used the four orchestrated movements of Ravel’s “Le Tombeau de Couperin”, and created a number of structured improvisations joining them all. The great improvisers on stage and Ravel’s gorgeous notes along with Marks stunning and surreal libretto will take you on a journey you won’t forget. For this piece Vio-fonik (me and Jenny Walton on fiddles, and Alan Mautner on cello) will be joined by Ken Rosser on nylon string guitar, Eddie Resto on contrabass, Chris Garcia on drums, and Mark Weber reading his poems.
We’ll also be performing a multi-media piece “Elegy for Hannalore”, written in honor of the late artist Hannalore Baron featuring a video of the 49 fabric and ink collages from the 2004 Smithsonian Institute exhibition. For this piece we’ll be joined by dancer Lauren Baba.
In keeping with our tradition, Didi Scorzo will join the large group to perform Nancy Wilson’s version of “Midnight Sun”, and Tierney Sutton’s whimsical version of “Cheek to Cheek”. : www.viofonik.com
